The U.S. House of Representatives has just voted to bar Planned Parenthood health centers from all federal funding for birth control, cancer screenings, HIV testing, and other lifesaving care. It is the most dangerous legislative assault in our history, and it cannot go unanswered. We — Planned Parenthood and the three million women, men, and teens who are at risk of losing access to basic care — need you to stand united with us now.

Not only do I find the vote of my U.S. House of Representatives absolutely disgusting, it’s beyond embarrassing. I mean, really? As an American, a woman, and most importantly… a human being, I feel betrayed.
Come America, let’s prioritize here.
Personally I haven’t stepped foot in a Planned Parenthood but it’s comforting to know that my peers and myself have a safe place to turn to when in need. An affordable place free of judgment and with vast knowledge on subjects many are too coward to even whisper about.
In a time where teen pregnancy is being glamorized by my beloved yet disappointing pop culture, a time that abstinence only lessons are still being issued at schools as “Sex Education” — it’s more the reason why this vote is absolutely ridiculous.
So please spread the word and join me in this stand with Planned Parenthood.
❤

This is such an outrage.  How many unwanted pregnancies will it take for people to realize that abstinence-only “sex education” doesn’t work?  Now one of the only places where people can go to safely, inexpensively, and privately when they are in trouble has come under fire.
It is sheer stupidity to cut funding for routine health scans.  There is no reason why people should have to live with the stress and health effects of unknowingly carrying a disease that only makes itself obvious when it’s too late to get help.  Preventative screenings and treatments, like those offered at the Planned Parenthood clinics across the country, help save many others from being infected.
I am proud to say that my sex education was largely given by my parents, who realized the fallacy and folly of an abstinence-only “education,” and therefore I have never needed to step foot in a Planned Parenthood.  But I know people who have.  A friend of mine was sexually assaulted at a party and wanted to get the emergency contraceptive, Plan B.  She was underage and too ashamed to tell her conservative, Christian parents about what had happened.  Planned Parenthood was a safe place for her.  She could obtain Plan B as well as undergo scans for any diseases.  It quite possibly saved her life from ruination.
I understand that there are girls out there who use and abuse Planned Parenthood as a place to rid themselves of their own foolish actions, and it saddens me.  But I believe that they are the exception rather than the rule.  So many people will go without treatment, help, or just someone knowledgeable to talk to without Planned Parenthood.  I have always drawn comfort from knowing that if I ever need Planned Parenthood, it’s there for me.  If American legislators care about the opinions of the people whom they have been elected to represent, they will vote to keep funding Planned Parenthood.  Please, Congressmen and -women, think of the people who elected you, and remove yourself and your political or moral convictions from the situation.  As a human, woman, and an American, I feel betrayed and violated.  Please don’t take this away from us.

Most people that are against funding for Planned Parenthood are so for many reasons, and most of it isn’t against the birth control, counseling, Cancer and other tests and screenings. Its against their stance on abortion, and that the government it looking for anywhere to cut funding.
In addition in the world / future of new healthcare laws doctors will provide all of the above. I know the main “draw” to Planned Parenthood is the discretion available. I get it, no one wants the world, or mostly their parents to know they needed services from Planned Parenthood.
I know this won’t change anyone’s stance on the issue, I just feel like sometimes people snap upon knowledge. Instant outrage or joy at something. There’s more than one side to every issue. I think people forget about the other side, and just write them off as ignorant, dumb, annoying, etc etc.
